The Application Software Group focuses on developing robust stand-alone applications (written using high level languages such as Java™, C/C++, or Visual Basic.NET) and scalable web-based applications (written using JSP/Servlets or PHP or ASP.NET with Ajax programming) which run on top of Linux® or Windows® operating systems. We have an advanced-level domain expertise in healthcare, data mining, and telephony applications.

We specialize in developing scalable software solutions which can:

• interface with a relational database management system (such as Oracle®, Microsoft® SQL server, or MySQL®, deployed using web servers and accessed by web clients over the internet or intranet environments, and,
• if required, communicate with mail servers and other third party applications using one of several standard communication protocols.

Scalable software development refers to our ability to architect, design, and develop complex software solutions for high-volume and data-intensive applications.

Telephony applications are developed in collaboration with our Embedded Software Group. We specialize in developing touchtone and speech recognition based IVR applications.

Examples of some recent successful deliveries are as follows:

• Healthcare portal (www.pinkwhalehealthcare.com) with features such as Call a Doctor (web based real-time consultation with doctors via phone, chat, and even video), Managing Health Records (facility to organize patient healthcare records in a systematic, interoperable format), Home Based Diagnostics (scheduling home-based diagnostics tests), and Expert Opinion (patients upload their medical records, which are reviewed by specialists offline and provide their feedback report). The application was developed using Joomla content management system (CMS) that leverages on LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP) technology.
• A customer feedback application used by a call center in Atlanta, USA. The application was developed using Java™ technology. It is deployed on Apache Tomcat™ web server running on top of Sun Solaris™ operating system. It uses Oracle® as the database server. The front-end was written using JSP™/Java™. Thousands of customer feedback records are entered by customer service executives every day. The application facilitates the vendor management team to generate reports based on customer feedback. The key technical challenge involved in this application is being able to manage the database containing thousands of records in an optimal manner and being able to present the reports in real time. The reports are efficiently compiled and easy to read and analyze for quick response and action.
• A healthcare web portal with 100,000+ registered patients and 1000+ registered providers (doctors) deployed in the State of Georgia, USA. This application was developed using Microsoft® technologies. It is deployed on IIS web server and interfaces with SQL server for database management. The front-end was written using ASP and has over 300+ user interface screens. This application also interfaces with a mail server, fax server and other third-party servers (for insurance eligibility verification).
